catch my breath as I peeled the condom off. After I tossed it in the corner of the elevator, I pulled my pants back up.
“Seriously?” she asked, sitting up, her hand flying up to hold her head that I was pretty sure had to be swimming.
    I shrugged. “What?”
“The condom. In the corner. That is disgusting !”
I glanced over at it, then back to her. “You want me to pick it up?”
    “Yes! That is sick.”
“Fine.” I bent over, picked it up, and cupped it in my hand. “You want it or something? A memento?”
She glared at me and tugged her shirt over her head. “No.”
I pressed the button and the elevator groaned, the cables caught and lifted.
Jules chucked my shirt at me. “Aren’t you gonna put that back on?”
I shook my head. “Nope. Do you see how sweaty I am? That’s Prada. Don’t want to get it all sweaty, that’s one of my favorite after-show shirts.”
“So”—she crossed her arms over her chest—“you’re just gonna stroll out of here without a shirt on, dripping in sweat, and condom in hand?”
“Absolutely.” I paused and narrowed my eyes on her. “Oh, shit. Are you afraid someone might see us and think we were in here fucking?” I laughed. “Doesn’t matter if I put this shirt on or not, as soon as someone else steps in here, they’re gonna smell sex.” I took a quick, deep whiff of air. “Mmm. Smells so damn good, me and you. So fucking dirty. I love it!”
When the doors opened, she swiftly walked out.
“Hey!” I called out as I stepped into the dimly lit hallway. “So, we gonna pretend like this didn’t happen again?”
She continued walking, not even glancing over her shoulder at me. “I can’t even think about this right now. Just…” She stuck her card key into the door and disappeared, the door closing loudly behind her.
I stood there, staring down at the faded paisley carpet. I wiped my hand under my nose and the smell of her filled me, my lips spreading across my face in a wide grin. I liked her and I was determined to make her realize that she liked me, that she needed me.
    *****
It sounded like the door was about to be broken down.
I rolled off the bed, groaning, “I’m coming. Chill out, dude.”
I jerked the door open to see both Stone and Pax with goofy-looking grins on their faces.
“Where the hell did you run off to?” Stone asked. “You just left those two chicks, which meant me and Pax had to take care of two additional girls. You know I don’t like doing shit like that, fucker.” He peered into the hotel room and then looked at me, stunned. “Really? There’s no girl in there?”
Pax tapped his hand over the wall. “Maybe he’s got syphilis that’s gone to the brain.”
Laughing, Stone flipped his hair from his face. “We’re going out. Wanna go?”
I shrugged. “Yeah.” Turning, I let the door shut in their faces.
I grabbed my shirt, pulled it on, and shoved my feet in my boots, grabbing my wallet on the way back to the door.
When I got back in the hallway, I asked, “Where’s Jag?”
Stone shook his head and shrugged. “Probably on the phone with Roxy. He’s really into her. It’s weird.”
“Yeah, I mean, he cut out suck-and-fucks because of her…hell, he tried to do a show sober . What the hell is he fucking around with a chick who doesn’t want him doing drugs, anyway?”
“Because he’s Jag , and he’s stupid,” Pax mumbled.
Just when we stopped at the elevator, I heard a door down the hallway open.
“Shut the fuck up, Pax. You’re a traitor, screwing around with River. You don’t fuck other guy’s exes, especially not your damn band member’s.” Stone paused, and slapped me on the back. “What the fuck is wrong with him anyway?” He directed his anger back to Pax, saying, “You do that shit again and we’ll kick your ass outta the band, got it?”
“Yeah, dude. I will throat-punch you.” I nodded in agreement and saw Jules staring down at her phone as she made her way down the
