that’s all, that there’s no terminal illness about to strike… or any sexual disease… oral contraceptives are not needed. I have taken care of that, I had a little op years ago. I also have an allergy to the pill…”
“I see…”
“Anything else?”
“Why do you want me to live with you, I could have managed everything from my current home and office”
“I told you I am demanding. I may want to see you often. It is too much to expect my driver to be running back and forth to Docklands and Highgate all day and night in London traffic. He has other things to do. Even if I had another driver just for you, you must see it is unmanageable and rather a pointless waste of time. I thought it was a good idea, that you would really enjoy living with me. You said you loved my place, that if you lived there you would never go out… Well now’s your chance Rose.”
“Hmmm… and at the end of the three months what will happen?”
“If we get on well, we can do another three, if not, you can go, back to your life as it was…”
“Right… okay then, let’s get it over with…” She stood up. He followed suit.
“Rose, thank you. For everything you have done so far and everything you are about to do. I am so pleased and so very grateful.” Kind words usually worked very well with women. He wanted her to be happy, as pleased as he was about this. It didn’t appear she was yet, but he would give her time to get used to it. He pulled her gently to him and placed a very sweet and grateful kiss on her lips.
He smiled and took hold of her hand as they made their way back to Clara’s office to sign the contracts that would be in force from midnight tonight.
Chapter 21
“I am devastated Rose. I can’t bear it!” Harry was saying as they finally made their way inside his flat.
“I know you are. It doesn’t do much for me either. But it’ll soon be over. I’ll have to make sure we don’t get on that well, won’t I? He’ll soon be kicking me out for bad behaviour!”
“It isn’t a joke! He’s going to be getting tons of action with you for a whole three months… I know just what that will do to him, believe me, you are something else in that sense … He’s not going to let you go. And you’ll end up staying with him Rose, because you’ll want to by then. I can’t imagine you not getting on with someone like him all that time… you’re going to be into it big time… you both are!”
“Harry, shut up, please! Don’t make it harder than it is already by saying all this, you’re just upsetting us both. I can see you for lunch whenever I want. Just no dating, no private meetings.”
“It’s best we don’t. That’ll just hurt us more”
“Please don’t Harry. I want this to be special tonight. It’s got to last us a long time. I don’t want to argue with you.”
“Rose we love each other… we should be together. Can’t we just run off somewhere?”
“No we can’t run off and we are together right now in fact. I am under contract as of midnight. I can’t be here one minute later. So are you going to make love to me tonight or shall I just go home right now?”
Harry swept her off her feet and into his room. He had finally got the message.
Chapter 22
Rose sat in her flat with two suitcases of possessions. She could come back and get some more later. She sat poking her finger in a hole in her well worn faded jeans. She’d made sure she didn’t look too great when she turned up at Marcus’s place by dressing way down today.
She was feeling very low… she’d had to wrench herself from Harry’s arms last night. It had been so dreadful she couldn’t think about it without feeling sick or welling up.
Jeff would be here soon, it was almost 10am.
Jeff finally arrived and helped her downstairs with her cases. He loaded them into the back of the car.
“Alrighty Rose me dear. Got everythin’?” Jeff asked her in his strong east end accent.
“Yes thanks. Err Jeff…
