her.” Cole said, turning to Evelyn. Evelyn just shrugged.
“You’re going to let me go off with him?” She asked, bewildered.
“He’s not dangerous. Just annoying.” Evelyn said with a mischievous look in her eyes. She started to wade out of the water, but Evelyn just relaxed a little. They started to walk off together in silence that she never thought would be comfortable, but soon it was. She looked around, and he helped her over the brambles, slowly helping to avoid branches. It was only when her feet started to ache that she looked at him.
“When are we going to get there?” She asked, clearly irritated. It was that smug look he had every time that she almost ran into something that was starting to infuriate her.
“What do you mean? I thought we were having a nice walk in the woods?” He asked innocently, and she shoved him a little. He laughed, not budging an inch.
“No? Not a nice walk?” He said, and she groaned.
“Why are you doing this?” She said, and he just shook his head.
“To give him the time that he asked for.” With that, they veered to the left, and his hand on the middle of her back guided her. That’s when she saw caves in the distance with Alex looking at them, tapping his foot almost impatiently. Just as she got near Alex, Cole grabbed her ass, causing her to jump and for Alex to growl.
“Watch it.” He said, and Cole just laughed before moving away. Alex softened when his eyes landed on hers.
“Sorry, but I needed to buy time, and Cole’s actually pretty good for that.” He said, and she shrugged.
“At least he’s good for something.” She mumbled. He just shook his head.
“He is pretty grabby.” He said as he picked up one of the lanterns, leading her into the caves. She went with him, but her hand gripped his arm a little tightly as her heart started to pound. He seemed so steady. So strong, and it was the only thing that allowed her to walk into the dark with him.
Chapter 8
As they walked in, the light cast shadows, but she could see people moving with their own lights. She walked a little closer and a little quicker. He didn’t pick up his pace, though. With her hand on his arm, he started to go down a twisting path.
“Where are we going? Didn’t it collapse?” She asked, and he sighed.
“You always did ask a lot of question, and no not really. That was another part of the caves. This should be fine.” He said.
“Now don’t ruin the surprise.” He finished with a teasing tone, and she looked at him puzzled.
It was only a few more minutes before they got to the entrance where she saw some of her things scattered about. There was a mattress there with a few comforters. All in green. Her favorite color and she couldn’t help but to smile. A mirror was standing in one corner, and she could see her makeup and another lantern right beside the bed. He just smiled as she took it in.
“Better than I thought a cave could be.” She teased him, and he just led her to the bed.
“But you like it, right?” He asked, and she nodded.
“We’re not giving up the apartment, are we?” She looked at him, curiously.
“No, of course not. This is just for the days and nights we are here. It’s important that we have everything we need. I want you to feel comfortable, but you’ll find makeup isn’t as necessary here. It’s not like you will need it anyways.” Alex said before realizing that he was rambling. He searched her eyes for a reaction, but he only saw contentment, and that really did seem to lighten his heart a little.
“It’s nice.” She said, and that’s when he picked her up. She squealed, and he just smirked at her.
“Well, what did I tell you?” He said huskily. “It’s now my job to sweep you off your feet.” He said before throwing her on the mattress, and he kneeled between her legs.
“I like you without clothes. Less of an obstacle.” He teased her before he kissed over her breasts.
