“What?” she asked.
“ Do you know how many things you have thought of doing?” Natasha asked as she took a seat on the floor.
“ How many? It’s not like I jump on every good idea or anything,” Rita said looking at Mona. “Right?” she asked. Mona shook her head.
“ I love you too much not to tell you the truth,” she said. “But every time you do something and it turns out well, you always talk of dropping everything and doing the latest thing,” Mona added.
“ That’s not true,” Rita said looking at Natasha and then at Stacy. “Is it?” she asked.
“ Honey, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, isn’t that how you landed on art in the first place?” Natasha said as she placed a reassuring hand on Rita’s knee.
“ I think you just have to accept that you are multitalented,” Stacy said without looking up.
“ Guess you are right,” Rita said. Natasha smiled at her.
“ At this rate we’ll have a Rita events company, Rita arts gallery and Rita interior décor,” Natasha said.
“ Whitey is right. Just admit you are a woman of many talents,” Mona said. Natasha rolled her eyes.
“ Stacy, Mona. Her name’s Stacy,” Natasha said sternly. Mona smiled.
“ You know I don’t mean anything by it, don’t you?” Mona said with a smile. Stacy nodded.
“ Otherwise I would question the relationship between you and Leo,” Stacy said as she took a sip of her wine. Natasha and Rita smiled at each other. “Even Whitey here noticed,” Stacy joked.
“ Yeah, how is that going?” Natasha asked with a smile. “It’s been what, a month?” she asked looking at Rita who was now nodding. Mona shrugged.
“ Nothing serious yet, I hope,” Mona said as she leaned back in her seat. Natasha leaned forward. Her cousin had a look that she knew only too well, a look that only came about when Mona was smitten. Natasha had only ever seen that look twice, once when they were kids and the other time when Mona met her son’s father, right before he screwed her over.
“ Oh my God,” Rita and Natasha said in unison. Stacy looked at them, confused.
“ What? What happened?” she asked looking at Rita and Natasha, who were still staring at Mona. “Guys, what?” she pressed.
“ You see it too, don’t you?” Rita asked. Natasha nodded and took a sip of her wine, still looking at Mona.
“ Okay this is getting really annoying,” Stacy said. “Is this some kind of inside joke I don’t get?” Natasha shook her head.
“ No, sweetie. What we have here is a case of Mona falling in love,” Natasha said. Mona stared daggers at her.
“ I most certainly am not!” Mona said.
“ Watch it, Pinocchio, your nose is getting a bit long there,” Rita said. Mona felt her whole face flush.
“ Wow, I thought it was a friend with benefits kind of thing,” Stacy said as she turned around to look at Mona.
“ Trust me, us too,” Rita said. “So, Mo, when did this happen?” she asked. Mona shrugged.
“ First off, you all need to chill with the stare contest. Man, if looks could kill,” Mona said tugging at the sides of her sweater as if the room had suddenly become cold.
“ If looks could kill, you’d be the skeleton in my closet,” Rita said, making Natasha and Stacy laugh.
“ Not funny,” Mona said wagging a warning finger at them. “Anyway, I don’t want to count my chickens or anything but there could be something real with Leo,” she added, blushing.
“ Awww, our hard hearted Mona is finally falling in love,” Natasha cooed. Mona threw a cushion at her.
“ We’re happy for you,” Rita said with a smile. “I haven’t known Leo for long but from the little I have come to know him I can say that he is a pretty decent man,” she said as she stretched her arms out. Natasha smiled and looked at her phone vibrating on the table. She giggled and typed frantically before putting it back down. “Really? You guys just spent an entire month together,” Rita said.
    “ How do you
