placing it over my heart. “This is where I want you to stay forever,” I pat the hand over my heart, “right here.” I clear my throat. “From that first kiss that we shared on the sky ride, to the kisses I hope to be sharing with you when we’re old and watching our great grandkids run around the yard from our rocking chairs on the porch,” her tears are falling now. “It’s you that I want, it’s you that makes me complete.” Her hands begin to shake. I flip open the lid of the box and hold it out in front of her. “Will you marry me?”
My heart is beating a mile a minute and my hands are sweating. The entire house is so quiet that you could hear a pin drop and she still has yet to answer me. Maybe I should have waited a while longer.

    Jaylinn

    “Will you marry me?”
    Holy shit.
    Holy shit.
    Holy shit.
Did he really just ask me to marry him? No. Nope. Couldn’t have. My hands are shaking so damn bad, it’s hard to breathe and to see through the tears. I turn my head to the side and make sure I read what the candles spelled out once more.
    “Jay,” Cooper’s voice shakes.
My head starts nodding up and down but I can get the words out of my mouth. “Yes, yes, I’ll marry you.” I drop down to my knees and throw myself at him.
He falls backwards onto his ass laughing and holding on to me. “You just scared the shit out of me for a minute there.” Now that I’m straddling him, his hands come to my face. “I didn’t think you were going to say yes.”
I cup his face with both of my hands and bring his face close to mine. “I love you.” I kiss his lips, gently at first. Cooper’s hands slide around the back of my neck. His tongue traces the seam of my lips and I open, giving him the access that he wants. “I love you so damn much.”
“I love you, too.” He pulls back, reaches for the ring and he pulls it out of the box. I hold my hand out and he slides the ring onto my finger. It’s beautiful.
I hold my hand out in front of me. The light from the candles catching the diamonds making them sparkle. “It’s perfect, Coop.” The tears come back again. I’m so damn emotional all the time. Everything seems to be falling apart around me with mom being sick but when I’m wrapped up in Cooper he seems to make me forget, even for just a little bit.
Cooper lifts me and turns me around so my back is leaning against his chest. He brings his knees up, rest his arms on them. I’m surrounded by him as we sit and stare at the candles in front of us. I can’t believe he did this, its super sweet and so romantic. I’d do anything to stay in this moment for the rest of our lives. To stay tucked into these mountains, away from everything and everyone and nothing can hurt us. We deserve this much after the shit we endured together.
I lean my head to the side giving him better access to kiss my neck. “How long have you been planning this?”
“The trip here only happened just yesterday with a little help.”
I turn my head so I can see him. “And how about the proposal?”
He shrugs. “A few weeks ago. I had to get permission and all that stuff.”
My eyebrows draw together. “From who? Hunter?”
Cooper laughs. “No, although now that you say that maybe I should have.” Then he shakes his head. “Nah, he didn’t ask me to marry my sister.”
    These boys, so freaking possessive.
Cooper’s face changes and gets serious. “I asked your mom.”
I sit up straight. “My mom knows?”
    He nods.
“Did she know you planned on asking me today?”
He smirks. “She actually helped me plan the whole thing.”
That right there is just another reason why I love him so much. He involved my mom. Just because I don’t have a dad he didn’t just take it upon himself to ask me without permission.
I lean back against him. “Huh.”
“Is that a good huh or a bad huh?”
I spin around, his legs falling aside and I place my legs around him. I reach for his hand holding it with mine.
