loyalty. “Yeah, if you want me to.”
Her head bobbed up and down. “I’m so happy.”
And I’m so fuckin’ screwed. “Let’s go for a ride. There’re some cool backroads around here. You ever explore them?”
“No. I’ve wanted to, but they’re not so easy to do with a car. You really want me to ride bitch on your bike?”
    “Yeah.”
“You never let women ride bitch.”
“I don’t, but I want you to.” He raised himself onto one elbow and trailed his finger down her arm, smiling when goose bumps popped up. “I gotta wash up. We’ll head out in half an hour.” He dipped his head and kissed her, then pushed up from the bed, gathered his clothes, and padded to the bathroom. Kylie lay on the bed naked, the sunlight streaming in from the window casting a peachy glow on her skin. She was gorgeous. His dick twitched as he closed the door.

They spent the day laughing, talking, and kissing more than Jerry had ever kissed any woman in a twenty-four-hour period. Everything was perfect, and he decided to let go of his guilt and enjoy the time he had with Kylie because once he returned to Pinewood Springs, he’d have to forget about her. He’d have to fuck her out of his system with the whores and hoodrats. But for the time being, he was having the best time he’d ever had with a woman.
Women to Jerry were there for fucking, giving pleasure to the brothers when they needed it. The concept of having anything with a woman outside sex never occurred to him. Even when he’d made the decision to come to Crested Peak to see Kylie, fucking was the goal. He thought he’d bang her a few times and be back at the club in time for a rowdy Saturday night party. It never entered his mind that he’d have a good time with her beyond screwing. So the fact that he was enjoying her company enormously shocked and scared the shit out of him at the same time.
The Banger problem was always present when it came to her, but the truth was he didn’t want a relationship with any woman, including Kylie. He liked the freedom of fucking different women, and he didn’t want a woman around trying to change him. Women were like that; they acted like they were cool with the way a man was, but then, when the guy got hooked, they’d try and change him. He wasn’t down for that. He also hated women who nagged, and it seemed like all women took that route at some point in a relationship. No, he wanted to stay a free agent without any attachments. And having a good time with Kylie disturbed the hell out of him.
“What are you thinking about? You have such a serious look on your face.” She looped her arms over her bent knee as they sat on the blanket she’d brought. They’d turned off the backroad an hour earlier, stretching out the blanket on the ground to rest before they headed back to Crested Peak.
“Nothing much. Just drifting a bit. I like it here. It’s different sitting here without being in the mountains. I mean, they’re nice in the distance like this, but I’m used to being in them, you know?”
“I do. When I first got here, it was so weird not being surrounded by the mountains. You get used to it. I’m so glad my room faces west, so I can see them every day.” She pulled out a few blades of grass and put them between her teeth, chewing lightly.
    “You like it here, huh?”
“I love being at the university. I also love being on my own. I’m so glad my dad let me come here. I was afraid I was never going to leave Pinewood Springs or live on my own.” Her laugh fell on his ears like the tinkle of wind chimes on a summer day.
“It’s good to be on your own. You have to learn how to survive, ‘cause you never know what shit the universe is gonna throw your way.”
She smiled. “You’re too somber. Are you ticklish?”
    He frowned. “Nah.”
“Sure?” She inched closer to him, moving her fingers, a sly grin on her face. Reaching out, she dug her fingers into his sides, tickling
