“I’m good. You know I don’t mind when you’re that intense once in a while. I think we needed it after we unloaded all the crap we’ve been carrying around.”
Cord brushed the hair off Sully’s brow. “Probably.”
“Besides, you never do anything that would ultimately hurt me, and I trust you. And I always end up in your arms, feeling like a pile of mush.” Cord tensed at Sully’s words so Sully opened his eyes and tilted his head to look into Cord’s face. “That’s a good thing.”
“I love you, baby. I don’t ever want to be apart from you again. That one, fucking week when I stayed in Daly while you came here was hell. Never again.”
“Do you think they’ll be too angry with us?” he asked.
“No,” Cord replied, their years together giving him the ability to understand Sully’s segue ways. “Everyone in Daly will get it. Moon and Pete realize I can’t be without you and they know responsibility to family. And Robert would like to have what we have. No one can fault us. Besides, you lived there long enough to know not everyone stays forever. Sometimes, you find what you need then take it wherever life leads you.”
And sometimes it led the way to love. “And we’ll visit.”
“Of course! Pete and Moon’s wedding is coming. We’re best men, don’t forget.”
“How could I? I have the best man in my arms every day.”
Smiling, Sully pushed Cord onto is back, pressing their mouths together. He explored his man, tasting and licking until they were both groaning with the desire they couldn’t possibly fulfill yet. That didn’t stop the intimacy building between them as they indulged the need to caress each other into a near-mindless fervor. It would keep them in bed until responsibility forced them back to the realities of the life they were embarking on here. Whatever came, Sully knew Cord would stand beside him, his strength and his partner.
Daly truly had led him to what he’d needed. His home. Not his old Kentucky home, but his place with the one man who filled him—and fulfilled him—heart, body and soul.
About the Author
When it comes to books and movies, Brynn Paulin has one rule: there must be a happy ending. After that one requirement, anything else goes. And it just might in any of her books.
Brynn lives in Michigan with her husband and two children, who love her despite her occasional threats to smite them. They humor her and let her think she’s a goddess... as long as she provides homemade chocolate chip cookies on a regular basis. Brynn conducts workshops at writers’ conferences around the country as she enjoys mentoring and meeting new people.
According to Brynn, her writing success can be attributed to an eclectic collection of music, her local road construction crews, a trusty notebook, and of course, her husband, Mr. Inspiration, who puts up with a lot in the name of research.
Brynn loves to talk to her readers and can be found at www.brynnpaulin.com .
