Prologue
Hundreds of years ago, in the land known as England, a beautiful faerie lived within a hidden realm of an enchanted forest. The faerie loved to enter into the mortal world and was fascinated by the villages and the humanity that exploration found. Realistic of the danger, she was careful to remain hidden from the hunters that could often be found within the thick, green foliage.
She wasn’t as successful as she thought. One day, while frolicking in a creek, she was approached by a stunningly attractive human male that instantly captured her interest. He was tall, dark, and very handsome, quite unlike the fair fae folk she was used to.
Unbeknownst to the faerie, though, this male was not pure of heart. He was a traveling carnival owner that heard the rumors of the wood sprite that roamed the woods, and was determined to add her to his sideshow entertainment. With a feigned interest born of greed, he quickly launched a campaign to win her trust and her freedom.
The charming man quickly took advantage of the faerie that was innocent of the customs of his world, and convinced her to run away with him. It was true he found her pale, blonde hair and plump form sensuous, but the thought of owning this supernatural creature was far more alluring. He knew once he had her in his possession, she would be his in whatever way he wanted.
Full of romantic love and promises, she left her grief-stricken family and realm forever, knowing that once she became intimate with a human she’d never be able to return to them. The doorway to her land was forever shut to anyone tainted by a mortal’s essence. Full of hope for the future she willingly left it all, giving up everything for the magical love the mortal man presented.
It didn't last, as deceptions often don't. Within hours, she realized the horrible mistake she had made and would have to live with for the rest of her days. The man was inhumanely cruel and evil, and she would never know love or peace as long as he lived.
Taking her back to the waiting wagons, he quickly chained her with iron and took her virginity, ignoring her cries and pleas for mercy. He knew their ways well. Iron prevented her from using the supernatural forces still contained within her body.
After the horror of his passion was spent, he coldly mapped out the course of her future. Her life would be spent as a sideshow freak, guarded by day and chained at night. With cold, cruel eyes, he mocked her innocence in believing he would ever marry her. Why would he? She was completely dependent on him now. He could have her anytime he wanted.
She received the news with a sense of relief. She'd seen the monster hidden in the handsome facade, and it was a face that would haunt her for as long as she lived. She didn't know what the future held for her, but she would never want to marry him. Their kind joined but once. She'd rather die than share a joining with him.
And thus, her life continued. It was a hard and terrible existence, not just for
