Sundance, and the same can be said for the other members of Devil’s Comfort. Yet this heterogeneous crew had been drawn together. Like a pack of lone wolves, disowned by their own peers, they had formed their own pack. A pack to be feared.
“Just because he’s at the club, doesn’t mean he’ll not pick up one of the whores there.”
“You two never did date like a normal couple.”
This time, there was no holding back the bubble of laughter as it escaped from the pit of my stomach.
“I hate men, when they’re right.”
    “Ah, but you love me.”
With the wine bottle now empty, I collected a couple of beers, which I had bought for Nick and passed one to Sundance. For a long time, I have been deprived of adult company in the evening, and just as with Nick, I am enjoying Sundance’s company.
This morning, when I had woken up, there had been a text from both Baby Blu and Cassie, informing me that Nick had passed out sometime during the night, and had to be put to bed.
Euphoria surged through me, as I clutched the phone to my chest, and I had jumped out of bed, showered, and dropped Toby and Amelia off at school. Now, I was sitting in the kitchen at Devil’s Comforts clubhouse, waiting for Nick.
A light kiss on the back of my neck, told me that Nick has now joined me in the kitchen. Wordlessly, I watch Nick, as he pours himself a coffee, before joining me at the table. His hair was wet, and tousled from his recent shower, and his eyes were still slightly blood shot.
“That was some night you had.”
Nick’s answer, was to light a cheroot, whilst shooting me, a lopsided smile. A smile that caused my heart to flip, and for a moment, I forgot how to breathe. This man was too beautiful, and I was halfway to losing my heart to him. Self-consciously, I twirled the band on my finger. The memory of Carl surfacing. Quietly I reminded myself that Carl was dead, and that I had a right to a new life.
“What would you have done Ellie, if there had been a couple of whores in my bed?”
“You can be crass at times, Nick.”
    “That doesn’t answer my question.”
“It’s the only one you’re getting. Now if you don’t want to ruin what’s left of the morning. Shut Up.”
Nick threw his arms up in the air as he pursed his lips at me, which made me glare at him.
“I’ve got to get to the garage. I’ll see you tonight.”
Nick rose from his chair, pulling his keys from his pocket. Just as he was about to leave, he turned and bent towards me, taking my mouth, in a kiss, which left me wanting more.
    “Ellie. Thanks.”
As I watched him leave, I asked.
    “What for.”
“For being there when I woke up.”
Now that Nick was no longer in the room, or at the club, there were only Flynn and Sundance in the kitchen. As I sat at the table with an inane smile on my face, I began to feel silly. To cover my embarrassment, I turned towards Sundance, and tossed him the book I had brought for him.
“If you’re with me today, this should stop you from getting bored.”
Flynn’s laughter filtered through, as he sipped on his coffee, and Sundance picked the book up, as he rose from the table, following me through to the parking lot.

“He’ll dump you, without a word.”
It was early afternoon, and I was on my way to meet the girls at Little Sammie’s. When a dress in Cassie’s boutique, had caught my eye. As I gazed at the dress, a voice interrupted my dreaming. Turning at the sound, I found myself staring at a young woman in her early to mid-twenties. She was about the same height as myself, and she had tight curly dark hair. Her eyes were full of hatred, as she looked at me. I became cold from the inside, as a shiver, spiraled down my back.
“I’m sorry. Did you say something?”
“He’ll fuck you. Then he’ll leave you for one of the other skanks at the club.”
“Look, I don’t know what your problem is. But I do suggest you take it elsewhere.”
As I go to past the woman, she grabs my
