“Where are we going?”
“To Ecstasy. It’s time I showed you what having fun is all about.”
Putting the dress away, Cherry swallowed down the lump
in her throat.
Mindy ran downstairs minutes later with her bag packed
ready to leave. She hugged Elijah then pulled Cherry in for a cuddle as well.
    “I’ll see you both tomorrow
afternoon . Bye.”
Following Elijah they watched Mindy climb into the
back of John’s car.
“He knows to keep an eye on her?”
“Yes, he knows to keep an eye on her.” Elijah waved as
Mindy waved vigorously back. “She’s staying over, and it won’t be long before she’s wanting to go out and date.”
“How are you going to handle the boys sniffing around
your daughter?” Cherry asked.
    “Simple, I’ll shoot them.”
    She chuckled.
“Go and get dressed. I want to take you out dancing.
Leave your hair down.”
    “Okay, bossy.”
Gripping the bag, she made her way upstairs aware of
his gaze on her. She entered their bedroom, going for the shower. Cherry took
her time trying to stem the excitement of going out dancing. She’d never been
dancing before. Once she was washed, she blow dried her hair and then stepped
into the dress. There was a zipper at the back, and when she turned, she found
Elijah leaning against the doorframe. His arms were folded over his chest.
“How long have you been standing there watching?”
    “Long enough to
debate fucking you before we leave.”
    “You’ll crease my dress.”
“Then I thought it would be better to make you
frustrated all night tonight,” he said, pushing some of her hair out of the
way. “God, I love you hair.” He teased the strands, and she smiled up at him.
He took her hand, leading her outside. “Tom’s taking
us to the club.”
“Do you think we’ll get in?”
Ecstasy was the club of the moment. It was always so
busy, and she’d heard people talk about the long queues to get inside.
“I’m friends with the owners. We’ll get in.”
Sitting in the backseat, Cherry liked the way he still
held her hand. She was finding she liked a lot of little things with Elijah.
The small touches when his fingers brushed the back of her hand when they were
passing things to each other. She liked the way he always seemed to touch her
when he stood behind her. The way he kissed her cheek, going down to nuzzle her
neck, always made her wet.
The love she felt for him was only getting deeper and
stronger the more time she spent with him. She already loved Mindy as if she
was her own, which was strange considering there were only five years between
them. Resting her head on Elijah’s shoulder, Cherry closed her eyes. When she
was with him, she felt safe, protected, loved.
    “We’re here, boss,” Tom said.
Opening her eyes, Cherry gasped at the long queue of
people.
“Wow, are you sure we’re going to get inside?”
“We’re going to get inside, and we’re going to have
fun, that’s an order.”
Elijah took her hand as they climbed out of the car.
Her heart raced at the sight, and she started to doubt his confidence.
    Don’t doubt him.
He walked up to the door, and the security simply
opened the door to the club. The music spilled out onto the street making the
crowd crazy.
“Come on, let us inside,” one woman said, shouting
over the noise.
Elijah pulled her in front of him, and he walked
toward the VIP section.
“Are we allowed there?” she asked.
“You’ve got to relax, Cherry. This is me, and I
wouldn’t take you anywhere that would risk humiliating you.”
They were welcomed into the VIP section. Cherry
relaxed the moment she saw Donna and Lydia. Donna had a rounded stomach, as did
Lydia. Both women were drinking sodas and sat next to their men. Henry and
Caleb both held onto their women as if they were protecting them from some
imaginary threat.
She smiled at each person, taking a seat next to
Elijah. He placed an arm around her shoulders pulling her against him. A
