few blocks until there will be so many Pack wolves these ass holes will never be able to handle them all!” Devon yelled.
Casey and Sid both nodded hoping that Devon was right, because right now it felt like they were sitting targets at a turkey shoot.
Sid pulled her up by the back of her jacket and hauled her out of the large SUV as Devon gave them cover with a gun that he obviously had stashed. Casey hated leaving him, but Sid refused to stop once they started running. She looked ahead and saw a bunch of men running at them, and she pulled back worried that they were coming after them. Sid must have seen something she did not, because he stopped long enough to swing her up into his arms and run.
They made it past the group and down another block before Sid slowed down. Casey looked around and saw two tall buildings and another one under construction. “Inside.” Casey heard Jaden behind them, and Sid entered the tallest building on the corner.
She looked over Sid’s shoulder and saw Cami and Jo being hustled inside. She waited for a brief moment. No one else came through the door, and she looked around. They were missing Devon, Quin, and Reggie.
Jaden led them into a conference room and made sure all of them were not hurt before turning and saying to Sid. “You shoot anyone who enters this room without giving the password,
‘Denver’.” Then handed him a handgun, and nodded his approval when Sid checked for the safety. He did not want to shoot anyone by accident. Casey looked at the other women who both cringed when Jaden left the room.
“What the fuck just happened?” Casey said and looked at the three people in the room hoping one of them would say ‘surprise’, or something just as silly. She could not process what was going on.
“I think the Rogue’s attacked us.” Cami said quietly and rubbed her stomach absently and Jo growled.
Sid stared at the door refusing to let his gaze leave it for a second. “I hear something.” Jo stood up and pulled Cami and Casey into the corner shielding them. “Chick, you are just as pregnant as I am.” Cami snarled and pulled her friend back so they all stood in a circle kind of shielding each other.
“Denver.” Someone called out and the door opened, and was flooded with tall men, who she assumed were guards. They turned tables over, barricaded the door, and then called out to someone outside of the door. Devon, Quin, and Jaden were pushed inside and then Tey followed. Casey could see blood on all of them and gasped, but it was the man that Tey was holding, that drew her attention the most and she cried out. “Reggie.” Casey yelled and ran to her brother’s side.
His eyes were closed and he had blood all over him. Tey gently laid him on the floor, and she heard the Alphas barking orders. Devon and Sid pulled her back as a small man ran into the room with a doctor’s bag.
Casey could not focus on anything but her pale brother’s face. It looked like he was already dead, but the doctor obviously knew more than she did because he ripped his shirt and began working on him.
A small young woman came into the room with more supplies and knelt next to the doctor.
“Ruby, you need to put pressure here.” The older man said and showed her where to press.
“RUBY!” the doctor yelled and snapped the girl out of the daze she clearly had been in.
Casey turned and hid her face in Sid’s chest, while Devon petted her back. She felt Cami and Jo come to her side as well, and they all clung to the men who were trying to give Casey comfort.
Tey and the Alphas finally stopped what they were doing and joined the group, and they held a small vigil above the man who was part of the Council.
“Who?” Devon said softly.
“Best guess, they must have been watching. The parents were brought here earlier today; they must have realized we were going to follow soon enough. My brothers Gregg and Darien have taken over the role of Beta’s, as you well know. They are
