the woman you wanted. That is, if you really wanted her.”
“You're right, because I've always wanted her.” Darnell's eyes deliberately traveled the length of Lauren's body from the side.
“Anyway, I'm not trying to hear all that jazz.”
“Yeah, I know. I really wish you would though. Are you going to the reunion tonight?”
“May I help the next person in line?” The cashier inte rrupted their conversation.
“Hello. Yes, I’ll have a large double espresso with three sugars and whatever the lady here is having.” Darnell nodded t oward Lauren.
“Thank you. I’ll have a double espresso with six sugars and a b anana nut muffin.”
“Alright, your total is $12.62 sir.”
“Here you go, Darnell pulled out a twenty. Keep the change.”
“Thank you very much. If you step to the end of the counter, your order will be right up. The cashier smiled.
“Are you going to the reunion?” Lauren answered Darnell’s question with a question as they made their way through the small but tight crowd to get their drinks.
“Yeah, I'm going to stop by for a few.”
“Well, in that case, I'm definitely not going.”
    “Oh, well neither am I.”
“On second thought, I think I’ll go ahead and go.”
“Ha! Damn, I thought we were better than that.”
“You better stop thinking so much.” She smiled.
“I see you got hella jokes, huh? Look whose gone and b ecome a comedian.” He laughed.
“Hey, what can I say, I get in a good one every now and then.”
“Seriously though, I thought about going. But to be honest, I think it’s going to be a waste of time. Plus, I have a lot going on with work and my dance class this weekend. Therefore, I think I'm going to pass this year.”
“That's understandable but I really think you should pop in for a minute if you can find the time in your busy schedule.”
    “Hey you never know.”
“Alright beautiful, let me get back to the empire. My assi stant has been blowing up my cell since I first walked up and saw you.”
“Okay Darnell, take care. Thanks again for the coffee.”
    “Anytime sexy.”
“You do the same. Maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll see you t onight.”
“If I were you, I wouldn't bet on it.”
“Damn woman, you’re cold. Next time I see you, I'm going to fix that though.” He winked and disappeared into the throngs of people traveling the business district.

“Ma'am, how are you going to tell me to meet you at the print shop to help you select new designs for your business cards and I'm the only one here.” Her best friend, Marie fussed over her Bluetooth.
“I'm sorry; I forgot I have an appointment this morning to get new tires. I was about to call you but I got sidetracked at The Steamy Cup Cafe.”
    “How did you get sidetracked?”
“OMG, does it matter?” Lauren released an exasperated sigh.
“Yes, it matters because you’re one person who doesn't get diverted. That high-pitched response denotes you weren't just sidetracked, you were driven to distraction.”
    “So, who is this guy?”
    “Marie, I have no idea…”
    “Lauren, don't play with me!”
    “Fine! It was Darnell.”
“Girl, stop lying. The same Darnell that has wanted you since our college days? The same Darnell that is now a big time real estate tycoon?”
    “One in the same.”
“And he still has the hots for you?”
“Darnell has the hots for every good looking woman that walks in front of his face.”
“All he sees right now is you. Lauren please, you better grab that man up and simply enjoy the moment.”
“It’s better when it’s a no-strings-attached fling anyway. That way you don’t have to worry about a broken heart.”
“Thanks for the wisdom, but no thanks. I'm not up for b eing anybody's fuck buddy.”
    Even if it’s Darnell's sexy behind .
“Lauren, I wish you would live a little love muffin.” She exhaled.
“I still rent porn from the sex shop, I'm living enough. I'm living on the edge actually.”
    “You need some real
