existed. Now, her whole world was alive with magic, and at its center was Luke—her wolf.

    * * * *

Sitting on the sofa between Kate and Gran, Megan looked at the crowd, both men and women, who had come to the shower. The mixing of genders that Kate’s two fiancés had requested for the event worked perfectly. But it wasn’t just a mix of genders in attendance. Only a few were not of some kind of magical ilk. That thought made her grin.
Suddenly Heather, her and Kate’s youngest sister, appeared from the hallway that led to the bedrooms, yawning. “You started without me?”
According to Kate and Gran, Heather had arrived late last night in a whirlwind of suitcases and stories about her travels abroad.
“Of course we did, sweetie.” Gran motioned Heather to sit beside her.
Standing by Rance and Troy at the counter with all the food, Hawk followed Heather’s every move with his unwavering eyes.
Knowing Heather’s ethereal ways and seeing how Hawk acted on the night he and Kate’s men had come to take her from Luke, Megan didn’t believe such a coupling would have any chance of working. Once Heather knew that they were all witches, including her, only the fates knew what she would do. Thankfully, Gran had recommended they hold off telling her until after the shower.
“Did I get here in time for Make up the Bride?” Heather asked.
Megan felt Kate squeeze her hand, sending a clear message that the game wasn’t something she wanted to do.
“Let’s hold off on that, Heather. There’s still more gifts for Kate to open.”
“Sure. Looks like quite the haul.”
Kate smiled. “I’m very lucky to have such great family and friends.”
She was going to be an amazing wife and mother.
Megan looked over at Rance and Troy.
They gazed at Kate as if she were a work of art in a museum. Megan was certain they would be amazing husbands and dads, too.
Megan couldn’t wait to have children with Luke. He would be a terrific father. She patted her own belly, wondering what it would feel like to be pregnant.
Gran patted her hand. “You already know?” she whispered.
    “Know what?”
“Nothing,” she answered, the lie obvious on her lips.
    “Tell me.”
    “Honey, you are pregnant.”
Megan let that sink in. How could Gran know such a thing? She’d only just been with Luke a few days. But Gran was a witch and an experienced one at that. She knew.
    “I am. Really?”
    “Yes, really,” she whispered.
“Don’t tell anyone until I have a chance to tell Luke.”
“Sure, sweetie.” Gran pointed to the front door, which someone had just opened for the next guest to arrive. “Now’s your chance. He just arrived.”
Her jaw dropped. Standing in the doorway was her lone wolf, dressed in a suit that didn’t quite fit with a tie that was a decade or so out of date. He looked so perfect. Her Big Bad Wolf had transformed into Prince Charming, making her feel like a fairy-tale princess.
Luke scanned the room and smiled at her when their eyes locked.
All eyes turned to him and several people actually gasped.
Hoping to rescue him from good-intentioned people with a million questions, she leapt from the sofa and ran into his arms. “You came.”
“Hardest thing I’ve done in a long time, Megan. I’m not really fond of people. And crowds…well, you get the point.”
The sacrifice Luke had made for her to come to Kate’s party filled her with joy.
    “I’ve got some news.”
His eyebrows shot up. “I’m listening.”
She shook her head. “Not here. I’ll tell you back at our place.”
He touched her cheek. “Whenever you’re ready to go, just say so.”
“Let’s go home, Luke.” She touched his tie. “Thank you for coming. It means a lot to me.”
“For you, sweetheart, I’ll do anything.”
She looked into his yellow-brown eyes and saw her future. “I love you so much.”
He kissed her, and her toes curled. “I love you, too, little trespasser.”
