clearly tonight and that’s just the way I want you, but I’ve got to know
    something.“
„What?“ She stirred beneath him, aware of the weight of him as he crushed her into the bedding.
    „Are you using anything?“
She drew a quick breath as she understood his meaning. Then, feeling dazed and foolish, she slowly shook her
head. „No. No, I… there’s no one else. I haven’t had any reason to use… I mean, I, oh Chance, I’m sorry. This was
very stupid of me. I don’t know what happened.“
„Hush.“ He bent his head and stopped the flow of confused, apologetic words with a hard, lingering kiss. When he
lifted his head again, there was a slight, satisfied smile edging his mouth. „I’m very, very glad there’s no one else and
that you haven’t got any reason to be on the pill or packing a diaphragm. It simplifies life considerably.“He started to
    pull away from her.
Instinctively Rachel clutched at him. „Don’t go,“ she begged, knowing even as she spoke that they couldn’t take
    the risk.
He touched her gently, trailing a fingertip down the side of her cheek to the corner of her mouth. „I’m not going far.
    Stay right where you are.“
He reached across to the bedside table. Rachel heard the drawer being opened, and then she caught the faint
sound of a little foil packet being opened. She closed her eyes, half in relief and half in chagrined embarrassment for
not having worried about this particular problem much earlier in the course of events.
„It’s a good thing one of us is prepared,“ Chance said with a rough, sexy chuckle as he came back to her, „or we
would have been obliged to get very creative tonight.“ He kissed her again, his hand slipping down between her legs
to make certain she was still ready for him.
„When did you…? I… I suppose you always have that sort of thing on hand,“ Rachel mumbled.
He nibbled her ear. „You want the truth? I bought a box yesterday in town while you were getting my prescription
    filled at the pharmacy.“
„Oh.“ She didn’t know what else to say.
„Stop worrying,“ Chance ordered softly. „I told you I’d take care of everything. Now put your arms around me and
    tell me you want me.“
She obeyed, smiling tremulously. „I want you. What happens next?“ she asked.
He grinned with devilish sensuality. „This is your lucky night. You’re going to get what you want.“
He started to guide himself into her, and the wicked grin vanished as he felt the convulsive way her body clenched
around him. His eyes burned as he looked down into her face. „You’re so warm,“ he gasped. „So small. You feel so
damn good.“ He surged forward, filling her completely.
Rachel cried out as his body invaded hers. For an instant she thought it wasn’t going to work, in spite of Chance’s
assurances. And then he was deep inside, stroking slowly and deliberately as her body adjusted to his. His hands
tightened on her shoulders, and his mouth drank the soft sighs from her lips.
When she began to respond, Chance groaned, the muscles of his hips tightening beneath her hands. „That’s it,“
he whispered. „So good. So good. Just right.“ He inserted one hand between their bodies and found the small nub
hidden in the curls between her legs. And all the while he kept up the slow, careful stroking rhythm.
Rachel thought she was going to come apart and shatter into a thousand crystal pieces. A swirling excitement was
rippling through her, teaching her new secrets about her body and its ability to respond. She clutched at Chance,
pleading with him for an answer to a question she wasn’t quite sure how to ask.
But he knew what she wanted. When her hips lifted frantically against his and her body began to tense in
unbearable desire, he moved deeply into her.
„Now,“ he muttered. „Let it go now.“
She obeyed, her nerve endings convulsing in a final, blazing response to the delightful, sensual torture they
