asleep because we woke when the floodlights from the
clubhouse blasted the darkness that surrounded us away.
The minute we pulled into the gates a
sense of relief washed over me as Campbell let out a sigh of relief. There were
more bikes than I could ever remember seeing at one time lined up along the
fence. When I looked up at the clubhouse I saw Logan running towards us. Campbell
was already scrambling across my lap to get out of the car. She was off my lap
and out of the car before I even registered that she was there.

“ Cam, ” Logan sobbed as she took me
in her arms. I breathed in her pear scent and hugged her tighter to me as she
did the same to me. The rumble of male voices behind us told me that we had
company as I began to pull away from Logan. “ Not
yet, ” she whispered as she
squeezed me tighter. More rumbling and back slapping could be heard, with Tank ’ s
deep timbre sending a shiver down my spine.
I sighed as I realized that the events
of the last two days were finally over. The exhaustion was starting to take
root deep in my bones; I finally understood what bone tired meant. My eyes were
heavy as I felt someone stand next to us.
“ My turn, ” Colt said as he hugged both
Logan and I. I was transferred from her arms to his. He pulled me tightly
against him. “ Hey little sis, ” he murmured as I snuggled
deeper into his warmth. “ You ’ re
safe now. ” I
nodded my head against his chest fighting the tears that welled in my eyes. “ Hey
brother, ” Colt said, as tingles ran
down my body like they always did when Tank was near.
“ She needs to rest, ” Tank stated as he scooped
me up into his arms. My head came to rest against his heart. “ We
can all talk after. ”
“ She is exhausted, ” Logan agreed, following
right behind us as he started to walk inside. “ Just
put her in Colt ’ s room and I ’ ll
take . . . ” Logan
never finished as Tank swung back around.
    “ Damn, ” I heard from a few
brothers. I looked up to see Logan frozen in place so I tilted up my head to
see Tank glaring at her as if she was trying to take his favorite new toy away.
“ Where? ” Tank croaked as he turned
back around. His body tense as we walked to the clubhouse.
    “ Colt ’ s
room, ” replied Logan.
NOOO! I thought as Tank continued
through the clubhouse and up the stairs to the second floor. Things would be
different now. He made it seem like everything would be better. Boy was I
wrong! I felt my heart cracking as pain pierced my soul. He really did not want
me.
Tank came to stop outside what I
guessed was Colt ’ s room. When he did not
move to go inside I looked up to see him looking at me with those same black
eyes. Tears sprang to my eyes at what I did not see looking back at me.

TWELVE

There was no way in hell Sunshine was
sleeping anywhere but with me. I knew Logan was just being a good sister and
looking out for Campbell but there was no fucking way.
I kept telling myself that it was
because Crazy Z started a war and I needed to keep an eye on her until this
shit was over, but it was just an excuse to get in her my bed. There was no
other place I wanted her to be, but with me. I needed sleep and the only way I
was going to get it was if Campbell was tucked in next to me the entire time. I
was too tired to fight it tonight. She was MINE.
Campbell finally looked up at me after
I stood outside my door for what seemed like an eternity. Hurt, rejection, and
a dying spark of hope shone through those baby browns. Tears welled in her eyes
as she looked into mine. The mask I wore for most people was firmly in place
and I knew she saw nothing. Campbell needed to know that this side of me
existed since it was the only side she would see very soon.
    Just breathe motherfucker. Just breathe.
I set Campbell down as I unlocked my
door. Once the door was open I scooped her back up, not stopping until she was
laid in the middle of my bed. On her
