soft chuckle and his eyes flicked to mine. I watched him swallow, realizing I was right. His jaw relaxed slightly.
“Dance with me,” I commanded as I grabbed his hand and led him to the dance floor. I felt his hand tighten around mine as we passed Tina and her boyfriend’s table. The dance floor was packed and I made sure to tighten my hold on his hand in case he changed his mind to go back to Tina’s table.
We arrived at the middle of the floor surrounded by other couples and groups of women dancing with each other. I turned into him, pressing my body tight against his while I wrapped my arms around his neck. My fingers entwined through his thick hair and I twirled the ends. Okay, so maybe another part of me just wanted more closeness because of what he did to me earlier. I couldn’t help but still feel his lingering breath on my neck. Not to mention I hadn’t had the touch of a man in quite some time. Gregory’s fake touches didn’t count in my book. They just seemed to rev me up.
“I’m not in the mood to dance,” he growled through his teeth.
“Just hold me close and sway with me.” He glanced toward Tina’s table, so I guided his body to turn away from them. That garnered a smirk from him. God, those lips. I needed to get those thoughts out of my head. “What is it about her that you love?” I asked, curious to see what he would say.
“I…I don’t love her. It’s just that I’m so used to having her. I’m used to the arrangement we have. But I’ve never seen her with him before. I’ve never met him and I sure as hell don’t like seeing them together.”
“Do you get butterflies around her?” I asked hoping to keep his attention focused on me and possibly help him think things through with her. Oddly enough, I had a hint of jealousy creeping into my thoughts.
He chuckled as he looked down at me. “My dick gets hard. Is that the same thing?”
I grinned at his reply and peeked over at Tina. Her glare was pinned to the back of Clark’s head. Our eyes met briefly and for some strange reason I couldn’t help but play with his hair again. Before I could think clearly, I placed my lips on his neck. It wasn’t a kiss, but I just needed to taste his skin for some reason. He tensed briefly, so I tried to reason out what I was doing. For my sake too, I think. “Follow my lead if you really want to see where she stands. She’s testing you right now. She wants to see how far you’ll go and if you really want her.”
    “You think?”
“She’s just trying to push you.”
“I don’t know if I want something with her, but it just ticks me off that she’s with someone. I don’t know why. He looks like a real jerk though.”
“What does she tell you about him?”
“They were high school sweethearts and she’s just afraid to leave him right now. She wants me to tell her I won’t see anyone else before she’ll leave him.”
    “Do you want that?”
He looked over toward her table and then back to me and swallowed. “I don’t know.”
“Can you see her in your future? Do you want her there?”
“I don’t want a girlfriend. I have fun with her, but I don’t really want something more with her.” He smiled at me and laughed. “She’s really good in bed.”
My jealousy spiked, so I smiled to push that feeling back down. He didn’t seem as tense as before and when the song ended, he took my hand in his and led me back toward the bar area. Relieved that my desire and my jealousy ended with that song, I gladly complied. Well, until he squeezed my hand and walk passed our group toward the back area. Reality set in on where he was trying to take me. I pulled hard on his hand and he looked back at me with a taunting smirk.
“Come on, Aub. Help me make her really jealous,” he teased. Then he pulled me close to him, our cheeks touching as he whispered in my ear, “God, I loved being with you, Aub. I still can’t get you out of my head.” The feel of his breath on my skin, the
