Chapter Twelve
Rhylie
“That’s fine, Megan, you stay there for Aileen and Terry. If there is anything you need from any of us just let me know and we’ll take care of it… Tell her not to worry about that, Zane has already offered to stay in town so someone can be here for the deliveries tomorrow… Yes, I will thank him for her… Oh no, I’ll make sure that no one here reaches out to Cailyn or Luke. I agree, they need to enjoy their time, and there is no need to worry them… That’s fine; just keep us posted on how he is doing.”
Hanging up the phone, I couldn’t help but pray that Terry would be all right. He looked bad when they left here in the ambulance, but if there’s one thing I have learned over the years, it’s that Terry Donnelly is one stubborn man. He had to be to deal with Cailyn and Aileen every day.
As I turned around to see everyone standing around doing nothing, well everyone except Ryan and Celeste who were having yet another make‐out session, Zane looked like he wanted to do something, yet he didn’t really know where to start.
“Zane, I need you to take the truck over to the Donnelly’s house and pack up Cailyn’s things. Liz and Celeste, you go with them to help box things up. Evidently, there are boxes there, but they couldn’t get things packed up before she left since they were focused on the wedding.
“Amber, you and Ryan can stay here with me to help finish cleaning and getting things ready here. Celeste, don’t give me that look. Yes, I am separating the two of you. We may need a guy to help with something around here, but they need a few of the girls to help them. They don’t know how to get to the house, what is Cailyn’s, or anything like that.”
“Yea, but that doesn’t mean he can’t go with me, or Amber can go and I will stay here.”
Zane stepped in to help out. “Celeste, come on. You can ride in the truck with me so I don’t get lost, and I will give you all the good stories about your boy Ryan. Maybe if you are really nice to me, I’ll let you know some really juicy stuff like why we call him Camper.”
Before Ryan could object, I turned to get in the truck. Celeste started to walk up the other side of the truck with an inquisitive look on her face. “I don’t know if I’ll be nice or not, but you sure as hell are going to tell me about Camper.”
I reached out to Zane and took his arm. “I know you heard me talking to Megan, but please make sure no one reaches out to Luke or Cailyn. When we hear something about Terry’s condition then Aileen can decide if they need to be bothered.”
“No worries. I agree completely. They don’t need any distractions.”
As the caravan left for Cailyn’s belongings, I turned to see Amber and Ryan kissing. “Alright you two, don’t tell me that I need to separate you as well. Let’s get to work, Camper.”
“Please don’t go there. They haven’t called me that in years. I was hoping that they had forgotten about it.”
Amber took him by the hand to lead him to the house. “Oh, I don’t think it has been forgotten, and for some reason, I think it will be a long time before you get to live it down now. You might want to give us your version of the story though before they completely embarrass you.”
Zane
Celeste was laughing so hard that I thought I was going to have to pull over and give her CPR or something. “Girl, you have to breathe. I don’t think you want me giving you mouth to mouth.”
“I can’t help it. You mean to tell me that he got his first kiss blindfolded from his sister? You all are a bunch of mean asses.”
“What can I say? She always had this thing for me, but to be honest she was ugly at the time. If I had known how much difference a few years made then I may have bit the bullet, but she had more zits than there are nerds at Comic‐Con. Breck got her to hide in the closet by telling her that was my favorite place to hide if we played hide and seek. What
