landed in Lenora’s office for an interview when she was twenty one.
“Yes, but m ore importantly, he is colorful enough to become a returning customer, if the right girl for him were to come along…” Lenora pulled a cigarette from the box and lit it as she leaned back in her chair, watching Belle chew on the idea.
“What does he want?” B elle asked without looking up. She knew there was a catch; you didn’t pay double the amount simply because you had a kink.
“Eight hours.” Lenora said, and bit back a grin as Belle turned huge eyes up to her.
“ Eight fucking hours?” Belle shouted.
“I understand,” Lenora held her hand up. “But the first four are going to be in a public place. No sex. He is very aware of the rules, and has requested this specifically. You know I can’t give you any more details, in case someone else is to go on the party.”
“Oh come on, you know I’m going to do it. Now tell me.” Belle said as she pulled the client file from in front of Lenora.
Belle managed to peek at it before Lenora slapped her hand over the top and snatched it up, tucking it into a side drawer in her desk. At least he looked handsome.
“He has requested that you attend a masquerade with him, have dinner, there will be a band and then a silent auction, after that, return to his place.” Lenora shrugged.
    “Daniel will drive?” Belle asked.
“Of course.” Lenora blew her smoke out quickly and pointed a finger at her. “Remember, you wanted to do this.” She said sliding the envelope back toward Belle.
“He isn’t going to fuck me in front of this masked ball is he?” She asked lifting an eyebrow conspiratorially at Lenora.
“Now, you know I’d tell you if he wanted you to do that.” She winked, a slightly sadistic smile spreading across her lips.
“It’s a single party then?” Belle snuffed the cigarette out in the ashtray, and tucked the envelope into her purse.
“Yes. He doesn’t seem like the type of man who likes to share.” Lenora said and stood with Belle, smoothing her hands over her black latex skirt.
“Well I’d better get ready. Do I need to get a costume and mask?” Belle asked.
“ No, everything is taken care of. Daniel will arrive at seven to pick you up.”
“Thanks Lenny.” Belle grumbled and rolled her eyes , she knew Lenora hated the nickname.

Belle walked fast toward the door against the spring wind, it tossed her hair in several directions, and Lou smiled at her as he opened the door.
“Thanks Lou! I don’t know what I’d do without you!” She said before planting a little kiss on his wrinkled cheek.
He beamed at her before shyly tipping his hat and turning back to the street. Lou had been the doorman in her building for the last three years she’d lived there. It was nice having him there five nights a week, it added a nice touch of home to the apartment building. Belle loved arriving in the evenings to him greeting her with his kind smile and rosy cheeks. It reminded her that there was merriment in the world.
Belle opened the door to her apartment, and shoved past a box of clothes she’d meant to donate two weeks ago, but still hadn’t gotten around to. She quickly pressed the button on her answering machine, which flashed two messages. She didn’t need to hear them to know who they were from, he was the only one who called her home phone anymore.
Belle pressed delete and held it down. She wouldn’t pretend that she didn’t miss him, but she didn’t need him in her life, she didn’t then, and she really didn’t now. Belle released a growl of frustration as she thrust her head back and stomped into her living room, tossing herself onto the sofa. She lay face down for several moments before willing herself to stand, dragging herself to the fridge and cracking open a red bull.
B elle began her routine, and by the time she was finishing her up do in the bathroom mirror, the
