“Well, that’s just fabulous,” she said. But when she reached out to embrace him, he seized her wrists to stop her. “What’s wrong?” She asked through suddenly dry lips.
He released her wrists. “I know you had your heart set on Christmas. I can’t wait that long. How about Halloween?” From his pocket he produced a little hinged box.
With quivering hands she took the box and lifted the lid. Inside, a perfect round diamond on a platinum band gleamed. It symbolized more than just joining their lives. They had come full circle. For a woman who was never short on words, the words would not form on her lips.
“Is that a yes to Halloween?” he asked.
She smiled at her soon-to-be husband and took him into her waiting arms. “It’s a yes to forever with you.”
