is through
our bond. Do you understand what I’m saying?”
    Her wolf body slowly crept
forward.
He feared she wasn’t able to
understand him. Her green eyes studied him, and then those walls came down
stone by stone. Her excitement level was eclipsed by a sliver of fear that she
wouldn’t be able to shift back.
Just picture yourself as human. Zayn silently prayed her panties
were gone, but then realized that was selfish. He’d just strip them off her as
soon as she shifted. Forcing himself to step back, he gave her room to shift.
    The same shimmer as before
happened, only this time where once stood a beautiful brown wolf with red tips,
now stood a gorgeous Cora in a pair of tiny panties.
“I did it. Oh my God, it worked!”
Cora squealed, launching herself into Zayn’s arms. “Whoa!”
Zayn grabbed Cora before she fell.
“Easy does it. It takes a lot of energy to shift, especially for newbies.”
With one arm behind her back and
the other under her knees, Zayn did what he’d wanted to do as soon as he’d
walked in after the pack meeting. He carried Cora to his bedroom, only this
time he’d hold her. He enjoyed talking with his mate, learning all the details
of her life. There was so much he still didn’t know about her.
“That was really cool. Does it
always feel that way?” Cora laid her head on his shoulder.
Her voice sounding slurred. He was
sure she’d be asleep before her head hit his pillow, but that was okay. He’d be
there when she woke up, and he’d be there every time she woke, if he had his
way.
Careful not to jostle a sleeping
Cora, he pulled the covers back and settled her between the sheets. He
discarded his own sweats before walking to the other side and sliding in behind
her, tugging until Cora was nestled in front of him, her back to his front. Nirvana. He let sleep claim him, knowing his mate was where
she should be, in his arms.
Beside him, a moan escaped the
woman who was his mate. As though that was his cue, he shifted his pelvis to
rub his cock against the firm globes of her ass. He was definitely an ass man.
Hell, when it came to Cora, he was anything that came to her, as long as he was
her man. There was absolutely nothing he would change about her, on the inside
or the outside.
    “Mmm, something is poking me,”
Cora murmured.
“He is just saying hello,” Zayn
teased.
She used her elbow to poke him.
“Are you one of those people?”
Zayn raised an eyebrow even though
she couldn’t see him, her tone warning him. “Um, what would one of those people
be?”
    “You know? Morning
people. The ones who are all talky and stuff before coffee.”
This time Zayn couldn’t help but
laugh, her pointy elbow hitting him with a little more force. “Are you one of those people?” he countered.
    “I need coffee. It’s not a want,”
Cora growled.
Knowing that he was facing a
losing battle, Zayn placed a kiss on his mate’s shoulder. “Don’t move.” He
rolled out of bed, navigating the semi-dark house to his kitchen, happy he had
a coffee pot that was the fastest on the market. Within minutes he had his
grumpy mate a cup of coffee made the way she liked it and one for himself .
He walked back into his bedroom to
find Cora with her eyes closed. The closer he got to her side of the bed the
more she stirred, her gorgeous green eyes popped open, and she reached for the
cup. “You made me coffee?” She took a sip and sighed.
    Zayn shook his head before
climbing back in bed. He waited until she’d finished her drink, and then he
took the empty container and set it on his nightstand next to his half-finished
one. “Okay, where were we?”
Cora wiggled closer to him. “I can
think of a few places.”
Whatever he planned to say flew
out the window, along with several brain cells, when Cora covered his mouth
with hers. She licked at his mouth, sucked his lower lip, and then let it out
with a pop. Her hum of appreciation echoed inside his head.
    Lust was a living, breathing
